Excellent tour and guide
Highly recommend this tour of Sintra with Mitos. Mitos grew up and lives in Sintra and was able to share his passion for and great knowledge of the area with us. He had great spoken English and we were able to grill him on all aspects of Sintra, Lisbon and Portugal. He took us to delicious local spots for coffee and lunch that were not part of the regular tourist route and he made several diversions along the way to show us special local spots. He was very considerate of our personal needs and very happy to adapt the day to our own plans and interests. He picked us up from our accommodation in Lisbon bang on time and returned us safely home- he was an impressively skilled and careful driver on some tricky roads and turning spots. He maintained communication with us throughout the day when we were visiting a monument so we knew where to meet- always in a convenient spot for us- and it meant we could shorten or lengthen a visit as it was taking place. Tour by a Sintra local
Our day started with pick up from our hotel. Mitush was so nice to greet us from the lobby 5 minutes before 9 am. We started off with a quick coffee n pastry stop to a local bakeshop in Sintra. He was from Sintra and you can feel his confidence in maneuvering around especially the tight paths plus winding roads. We were taken to places that was dear to him as a child and we felt we were lucky to see iconic places that is exclusive to the locals. A memorable experience in Sintra
The guide provides lot of information about the scene in Sintra, made us enjoy a lot during the visit. His suggested time for the visit in each scene made us to utilise the day to visit the most important scene in Sintra. Fantastic guide and trip!

Sintra Duos Excellent
Martim and Muniz were wonderful giving us tour around sintra their home town. We never felt they were unknown to us, very kind, knowledgeable and easy to work with. They were very patient with kids and also let us customize our own trip. They never made us felt rushed or anything. I wouldn’t have done sintra trip any better without them. Great Customized Private Tour
Fantastic private tour to Sintra! Great communication in advance of our tour so that they could customize our experience to the attractions we were interested in seeing. Seamless pickup at our hotel in Lisbon, informative drive up to Sintra. Brothers Martim and Mitos taught us a lot about Sintra, the palaces and gardens, and Portugal in general. Very informative and well coordinated - able to drop us at good spots to limit unnecessary walking and also to make sure we were in the right spot. If you get a chance, try the pastry in old Sintra (Travesseiros), a little pillow of greatness! Lunch spot they recommended (Tabuas Honest Food) was great - good food and a welcoming environment. Amazing tour of Sintra!
We loved our guide Margarida and driver Martim! They gave us the best experience on our tour of Sentra. They were both so personable and took us to all the places we wanted to go! A very warm and positive experience - Twinkle.
The communication right from the beginning was smooth, quick and respectful. We had a few requests for the itinerary, those were generously accommodated. We started on time, and the drive throughout was safe and comfortable. Our tour guide Margarida was very compassionate, friendly and proactive; I and my friend came across some personal emergency, she made sure to get us the right help as quickly as possible and ensured through her presence and assistance we felt supported and safe throughout. She was a local, that really made a difference, as we were able to learn from her more about Sintra and Portugal. Our dietary requirements were vegan, and many unique/fine dining options were recommended. In between due to some personal reasons we were caught up, meanwhile Margarida made sure we had some vegan pies, she politely offered to checkout a cafe while we attended to the situation and immediately returned by our side. Travelling is not fun if you don’t happen to find right company to show you around, we fortunately had one on our day trip to Sintra. I’d highly recommend Van Mode Tours for anyone travelling with family, solo, with friends, with babies or having special needs. They’re simply the best.
